October 17th Workshop: Yolteotl, Let Love Guide My Way

Facilitated by Reina Prado of @healingqueen_

Reina Prado shares an experiential offering to support participants to connect to Love as a practice of service that supports themselves and their clients. The Nahuatl concept of Yolteotl, a divine heart, inspires the reflection prompts, guided experience with sound bath, and somatic exercises through movement and writing. During the workshop, we will work with the Hummingbird and Jaguar who serve as guides to show us how to live a heart-led life that is joyful and loving. There will be moments to share in smaller groups too. In the end, participants will have met the areas that feel like blocks with much compassion and understanding. As well as, reclaim our trans-historical joy and love laid by our ancestors to guide our liberatory work and aid in our collective healing.

Participants are encouraged to have drinking water with them, bring a journal, color pencils or markers, preferred writing tools, and have any other tools to support them in this experience such as crystals, essential oils, and/or flower essences.

Objectives:

· Creation of a Hummingbird Map reflective of how you arrived at a place of service to Love.

· Declutter your emotional closet.

· Dismantle the belief that one can only experience Love, Joy, Self-Love, or Self-Care as a reward.

· Learn more about the co-creative process to work from a principle of a divine heart.

Reina Prado (she/they), founder of Healing Queen (@healingqueen_), is a Xicana feminista that brings a bi-lingual and bi-cultural approach to the various modalities and protocols they engage in their wellness practice. Their practice incorporates traditions from her maternal line who were Curanderas, Mid-wives, and Herbalists. Each session helps a client re-align to their heart space sourcing their wellness of being. Afterward, a client can feel more connected to their truer self trusting their life path and doing projects that connect with their soul. The longer they work together, the client learns to discern what is in right alignment with their spirit, and have the confidence to move forward releasing what is no longer in service to their higher self. Prado has also created the podcast Activating Divine Love and leads workshops and vibrational healing circles. Prado is certified as an ICSU (Integrative Cranial Sacral Unwinding) and RPP (Registered Polarity) Practitioner through the Life Energy Institute, as well as a certified Yoga instructor and Reiki Practitioner.

Emilia Ortega- Jara, LCSW, will be facilitating and hosting this fall's retreat.

Emilia is founder and clinical director of Corazon Counseling Service and Yollotl Cuicatl Coaching & Guidance. With over 20 years of working in the mental health field, Emilia has been a longtime advocate for culturally and linguistically appropriate mental health services for the Latinx/Chicanx community and has worked with various social justice organizations and community-based mental health agencies. Emilia highlights the importance of culture, ceremony, and ritual throughout the work she facilitates, incorporating aspects of traditional indigenous wisdom and modern psychotherapy techniques. In addition to her psychotherapy practice, Emilia provides community training and workshops on various topics related to maternal mental health and facilitates rites of passage ceremonies from puberty to motherhood. Emilia is also a cultural practitioner and ceremonial Aztec dancer, living in harmony and connected to the land and elements of nature, being in ceremony every day, guided by her ancestors.
